Alibaba Steps into AI Glasses Arena with Quark Launch
So, Alibaba is throwing its hat into the AI glasses ring! They've just launched their Quark AI glasses in China, and there are a few different versions to choose from. Basically, you've got the high-end S1 and the more budget-friendly G1. Both connect to their new Qwen App, which is powered by Alibaba's own AI. You can use voice commands or touch controls to get AI assistance.
What can these glasses actually do? Well, think real-time translation and AI-generated notes during meetings. Pretty neat, right? And because it's Alibaba, the glasses are heavily integrated with their ecosystem. That means you'll find apps like Alipay and Taobao right there.
In terms of hardware, the lenses act as screens, like what Meta's doing with their Ray-Ban Display. The S1 boasts better micro-OLED tech, more powerful chips, and improved image/video quality, especially in dim settings. If you are the kind of guy who goes to many meetings in a low-light restaurant, these glasses might be the deal!
The G1, on the other hand, is lighter and designed for everyday wear. Honestly, I am curious to see if Alibaba plans to release these outside of China. Right now, you can find them on Chinese e-commerce sites. The S1 starts at around $537, while the G1 is cheaper, starting at $268.
For me, the coolest thing about this is not only the glasses itself, but the AI integration with tools that can be handy at work, like the auto-generated notes.
