Bumi: Chinese Startup Unveils $1,400 Dancing Humanoid Robot
For the price of a new flagship smartphone, you could now snag yourself a humanoid robot. Noetix Robotics, a Chinese startup, just unveiled its Bumi robot, and it's surprisingly affordable at around $1,400. I mean, think about it – that's less than some high-end phones!
Standing at about three feet tall and weighing 26 pounds, Bumi isn't exactly ready to take over the world. It's not designed for heavy industrial work or complex research tasks. From what I’ve seen, it's more about walking around and showing off some dance moves.
However, the cool thing is that Bumi will come with a programming interface. This means you can actually teach it new tricks or use it for educational projects. That's a pretty neat feature for the price. According to reports, preorders are expected to start later this year.
Before Bumi, Noetix Robotics demonstrated its abilities by participating in a robot half-marathon with its N2 model, one of only four robots to complete the race.
The Bumi significantly undercuts other "affordable" robots. Remember Unitree's R1 robot announced earlier this year? That one starts at around $5,900. And let's not even get started on Tesla's Optimus bot, which is estimated to cost around $20,000. It seems like we are getting closer to a world where humanoid robots are not only for big companies, but also for normal people like you and me.
