Gmail's AI Scheduling: Find Meeting Times Faster with Gemini

Software

I've always struggled with scheduling meetings. It's like a digital dance, trying to find a time that works for everyone. Google seems to feel my pain, because they're rolling out a new feature in Gmail powered by their Gemini AI. It's called "Help me schedule," and it's designed to make the whole process smoother.

Basically, when Gmail figures out you're trying to set up a meeting in an email, this new option pops up. When you click it, Gemini AI looks at your Google Calendar and suggests times that work for you, all based on the context of the email. For example, if you're discussing a 30-minute chat next week, it will pull 30-minute slots from your free time.

I like that you can tweak the suggested times, too. It's not like the AI is forcing you into anything. You can add or adjust slots as needed. The best part? When the other person picks a time from the email, Google Calendar automatically creates an invite for both of you. Talk about efficiency!

It's worth noting that, at least for now, "Help me schedule" is only for meetings between two people. So, if you're trying to coordinate a meeting with a bigger group, you'll still need to use other methods. Also, it's currently available for Workspace customers and those with Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscriptions.

Google's been adding a bunch of AI features to Gmail lately. For example, it can already summarize emails and give you an "Add to Calendar" button when it detects an upcoming event. I think this is a great use of AI and makes our life easier!
