Google's AI Search Mode Expands to Dozens of New Regions and Languages
Okay, so Google's AI Mode in Search is getting a serious global upgrade! I remember when they first teased this thing earlier in the year, and now it's spreading like wildfire. They've just announced it's rolling out to a whopping 40 new regions and becoming available in 35 new languages. That's huge!
We're talking Arabic, Chinese, German, French – a ton of different languages. Google claims their custom Gemini model is so smart, it can actually understand the nuances of these languages, so you don't get those weird, robotic-sounding translations. I mean, we've all been there, right? When you try to translate something and it just comes out completely wrong?
It seems like just yesterday that Google rolled it out to everyone in the US, and they said they'd be integrating a lot of the AI Mode features directly into the regular search experience. And now, they're expanding even more, adding Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese to the list!
I think it's awesome that more people will get to use AI Mode in their own language. Google also plans to add more capabilities to AI Mode and recently released an update that made it better at understanding visual prompts. If you ask me, it's like having a super-smart assistant right there in your search bar.
However, it's not all sunshine and roses. Some online publishers are saying that these AI-generated summaries are actually hurting their web traffic. A study found that people are less likely to click on website links if they see an AI Mode summary at the top of the page. I can see their point. If you get the answer right away, why bother clicking through to the website?
I am really curious to see where Google takes this. It is a very good feature to Search and discover new things. But as with every new technology, there are some things that still need improvements.
