LG's 2025 QNED Evo LCD TVs Bring Wireless 4K to the Forefront

TV Technology

LG is set to release its 2025 QNED Evo premium LCD TV lineup starting in May. This release follows the initial unveiling that occurred at the end of 2024, preceding CES. A standout model, the QNED9M, marks a first for QNED TVs. It uses LG’s True Wireless technology to wirelessly transmit 4K content. Previously, this capability was exclusive to LG’s OLED TVs.

While LG is known for its OLED displays, the introduction of wireless functionality to its QNED line shows a commitment to its more affordable LCD offerings. The True Wireless tech, initially introduced in 2023 with the Zero Connect Box, allows for a clean setup with minimal cables.

Key Features and Technology

With devices plugged into the external box, the TVs can transmit 4K content at up to 144Hz. This ensures no noticeable latency or loss in picture and audio quality. Notably, models 55-inch and below will have a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. The only cable required to be plugged directly into the TV is the power cord, simplifying the setup and reducing clutter.

The QNED Evo series is powered by LG’s Alpha AI processor. This processor enhances performance and supports various AI-driven features. Additionally, the new TVs feature LG’s Dynamic QNED Color solution. This technology replaces quantum dot tech to produce more vibrant colors. QNED TVs use quantum dot and nanocell technology paired with Mini LED backlighting, which has thousands of dimming zones. The result is brighter images and improved contrast. While a step below the self-lit pixels of OLED displays, QNED TVs offer a substantial upgrade over traditional LCD panels.

Smart Features and Connectivity

The included AI Magic Remote features a dedicated AI button. Pressing this button allows users to make personalized voice requests. The AI tech within the TVs can also adjust settings based on personal audio and visual preferences. It enhances faces and important scene elements, and creates virtual 9.1.2 surround sound using the built-in speakers.

These TVs also serve as smart home hubs, offering multi-platform connectivity through LG ThinQ and Google Home. The TVs also support AirPlay and Google Cast.

The refreshed QNED Evo models will be available in sizes ranging from 50 to 100 inches. The rollout is scheduled to begin next month in the US.
