McConaughey and Caine Join ElevenLabs: AI Voices Expand
Matthew McConaughey and Michael Caine Dive Into AI Voice Tech
ElevenLabs, which is becoming well-known for AI dubbing and narration, has just revealed deals with two big movie stars. These deals are sure to stir up some strong feelings from those who aren't fans of AI for different reasons.
Matthew McConaughey, is putting some money into the company. He's also going to use their tech in his projects. McConaughey mentioned being impressed with how ElevenLabs has turned their tech into tools for creators and storytellers.
So, what's McConaughey actually doing? He's adding ElevenLabs' tech to his "Lyrics Of Livin’ with McConaughey" project. It seems they'll be creating a Spanish version of his newsletter-podcast-YouTube series, featuring an AI-generated voice that mimics McConaughey's own.
According to McConaughey, this will allow him to "reach and connect with even more people," which sounds like a cool way to expand his audience.
Michael Caine Joins the "Iconic Marketplace"
At the same time, ElevenLabs announced that Michael Caine is joining their "Iconic Marketplace". This marketplace lets you license AI versions of famous voices for your creative projects.
Most of the voices available, like Maya Angelou and John Wayne, are from people who have passed away. Besides Caine, Art Garfunkel and Liza Minnelli are the only other living icons on the platform.
There's no arguing that Michael Caine's voice is iconic. Now, you can license a digital version of it for your own projects through ElevenLabs. The price isn't listed, but it's probably cheaper than hiring the real Michael Caine.
What I think about this? I believe this represents a new era where technology allows creators to reach wider audiences and preserve iconic voices. However, the implications for actors and voice artists are something we need to watch closely. What's your take?
