Perplexity AI Voice Assistant Now Available on iOS Devices
Perplexity has officially launched its AI Voice Assistant on iOS, bringing the functionality previously available to Android users to iPhone. This update allows users to leverage AI for various tasks directly within the Perplexity app.
Key Features and Capabilities
The AI Voice Assistant is designed to streamline everyday tasks. It can browse the web, access other apps, and perform actions on behalf of the user. Imagine asking it to find a table at a specific restaurant. Perplexity can automatically open OpenTable, pre-filling the number of people, date, and time. The user simply confirms the reservation.
Beyond restaurant bookings, the assistant can also draft emails, set calendar reminders, and suggest places to visit based on user preferences. It can even pinpoint locations on a map, making it easier to discover new spots. Web searches are, of course, also supported, with the ability to open videos directly in the YouTube app.
Accessibility and Future Enhancements
Unlike Apple Intelligence, which is limited to newer iPhone models, Perplexity's AI Voice Assistant is compatible with older iPhones, making it more accessible to a wider range of users.
Currently, the iOS version lacks the "see the world" feature present in the Android version, which allows the assistant to identify objects in the user's environment. However, it's likely that this feature will be added to the iOS app in the future.
Perplexity's AI Voice Assistant offers a practical and accessible way for iPhone users to integrate AI into their daily routines. By automating tasks and providing intelligent recommendations, it aims to enhance productivity and simplify everyday life.
