Polestar 4: No Rear Window, No Problem? A Funky EV

Electric Vehicles

So, Polestar, the Swedish EV maker, has been busy. After the Polestar 2 sedan, they dropped the 3, a roomy compact crossover SUV, and now we've got the Polestar 4, which is like a sportier, even smaller crossover SUV. It's wedged between the 2 and 3 in terms of size, which might confuse some folks.

However, what's even more head-scratching is what's missing: a rear windshield. Yep, you read that right. No rear window. At all. When I first heard about it, I thought it was a gimmick.

Starting at $57,800, the 2026 Polestar 4 is not cheap, but despite its unusual design choice, I've found that it is a compelling and fun EV to drive this year!

Now, I know what you're thinking: how do you see out the back? Well, Polestar uses a high-definition camera that feeds into the rearview mirror. It took me a bit to get used to it, I must admit. At first, the lack of a traditional view was unsettling. The depth perception feels different, and it feels kind of weird at first.

However, after a few drives, I actually started to appreciate it. The camera gives you a much wider field of view than a regular mirror, eliminating blind spots. Parking became easier, and merging onto the highway felt less stressful.

Let's be real: the missing rear window is a bold move. It's definitely a conversation starter, and it sets the Polestar 4 apart from the crowd.
