Snapdragon 7s Gen 4: Qualcomm's new chip boosts performance for budget phones
So, Qualcomm just dropped their newest mobile platform, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, aimed at making more affordable smartphones pack a bit more punch. It's all about getting better performance without breaking the bank, which is something I think we can all appreciate.
Compared to the last generation, it seems like this new chip offers a decent upgrade. We're talking about improvements to the GPU and CPU – around a seven percent boost, apparently. Plus, they've bumped up the peak CPU speeds to 2.7 GHz. Not a massive leap, but every little bit helps, right? I think it's a good improvement for mobile gaming.
However, it's not just about raw power. Qualcomm's also added support for sharper displays (WFHD+ with a 144Hz refresh rate) and a cool feature called Low Light Vision. This should really improve video quality in those dimly lit situations. It´s great that Qualcomm is making features that were once exclusive to their high-end chips available on more affordable devices. It's a smart move, in my opinion.
Beyond the core upgrades, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 still boasts some of the features we've come to expect, like the ability to handle 200-megapixel photos using AI, super-fast charging (Quick Charge 4+), and real-time translation. I believe that AI is definitely the future!
Now, while it might not be a revolutionary overhaul from the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, it's a solid step forward. Qualcomm hasn't officially announced which phone manufacturers will be using this chip yet, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it pop up in devices from companies like Honor and Vivo, considering they've used similar Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 models in the past. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing it in action!
