Threads moves to threads.com and adds new web features

Social Media

After a bit of a wait, Meta's Threads has officially transitioned its web presence to threads.com. This move marks a significant step for the platform, which initially launched with the threads.net domain due to prior ownership by another company, later acquired by Shopify. Now, with the threads.com domain secured, Meta is rolling out a series of improvements to the web experience.

New Web Features

The updated web version of Threads introduces a new composer that appears in its own window. This enhancement allows users to seamlessly draft posts while simultaneously browsing their feeds. The update also brings the single-column feed view, mirroring the mobile app's intuitive design. In addition, accessing saved posts is now more straightforward with a dedicated menu shortcut, eliminating the need to pin them as columns.

Efforts to Attract X Users

Meta is actively working to attract users from X (formerly Twitter). A new feature is currently being tested that allows users to upload a list of accounts they follow on X and identify those accounts on Threads. Although this feature is in beta and might take up to three days to process the data, it offers a valuable way for users to reconnect with their network on the Threads platform.

Beyond its user-friendly features, this data import functionality could provide Meta with valuable insight into user behavior and preferences, enhancing its understanding of social media engagement across different platforms.
