I think that these updates could change how we find and interact with videos. The new search carousel is very similar to Google’s AI Overviews. While this feature makes discovery easier for us viewers, I believe that the creators could be concerned. After all, they rely on video engagement to generate revenue. If viewers get all the info they need from the AI carousel, they might not click on the videos themselves. However, YouTube is also expanding its conversational AI tool to more users, even those without Premium. This tool, launched in late 2023, uses AI to provide summaries, content recommendations, and answer questions about videos. For instance, if you're watching a roller skate dance tutorial, it can summarize the video or suggest related content. You can even ask specific questions like "What's the song in this video?" In conclusion, YouTube's AI initiatives are aimed at improving our viewing experience.
